of formats. Most of it circulates, although for varying
lengths of time. Some material must be used within the

The Grinnell College Libraries will borrow material from
most libraries within the United States. Please see the

Center for Research
Libraries
Grinnell College Libraries is a member of the Center
for Research Libraries. The Center collects foreign newspapers,
dissertations, government documents from around the world,
and many other collections that are difficult for most
single libraries to acquire. This material is available
through interlibrary loan. Talk to a librarian for more
information or search the CRL
Catalog.
Grinnell College librarians are happy to work with you
for quick questions, or for more in depth assistance.

interface is also available. Use our catalog to locate
books, journals and magazines, newspapers, sound recordings,
videos and DVDs, microfilm, Web pages, and any other format
of material we collect. For questions, contact

to start when looking for material available through the
libraries or accessible via the World Wide Web. A librarian
will be happy to assist you in navigating our Web pages
if you have questions.
The libraries make available a variety of print and electronic
indexes, abstracts, and other databases. We provide you
with a variety of ways to identify the databases that
might be useful to you on our Databases and
Indexes Web page. For more information or questions
call or stop by the reference desk at 269-3353 or ask
a circulation desk supervisor or assistant to help you
locate a librarian.
Encyclopedias and Dictionaries
The libraries make a variety of encyclopedias and dictionaries
available via online subscriptions and in print in the
reference area. Ask a librarian for assistance in selecting
the reference works best suited to your needs. Most electronic
resources are available to visitors while in the library
buildings. All of our resources are also available through
