The Grinnell College Libraries encourages all members
of the college community to take advantage of the resources
in the library whether for work-related or personal interests.
We have material in a variety of formats. Most of this
material circulates, although for varying lengths of time.
Some material must be used only within the building. Please
see our circulation
policies for more details.
Interlibrary Loan
The Grinnell College Libraries will borrow material from
most libraries. Please see the interlibrary
loan page for more information and for the online
request form.
Grinnell College librarians are happy to work with you
for quick questions or for more in depth assistance. You
will find us at the reference desk or on call. If you
don't see a reference librarian at the reference desk,
please check at the circulation desk (x3350) for assistance
in locating a librarian. You may also contact us by email
(query@grinnell.edu)
or by phone. For phone numbers and emails of individual
librarians please see our consulting librarians
page or go to the library
directory.
The libraries' Web-based catalog is available at http://cat.lib.grinnell.edu/search/X.
A text-based (ascii)
interface is also available. Use our catalog to locate
books, journals and magazines, newspapers, sound recordings,
videos and DVDs, microfilm, Web pages, and any other format
of material we collect. For questions, contact
a reference librarian in person at our reference desk,
send a message to query@grinnell.edu,
or call the reference desk at 641-269-3353 during reference
hours. You may also contact your consulting librarian
or another librarian or library staff member directly.
Please see the library
directory.
Libraries' Web Site
The libraries' Web
site is a good place
to start when looking for material available through the
libraries or accessible via the World Wide Web. A librarian
will be happy to assist you in navigating our Web pages
if you have questions.
The libraries make available a variety of print and electronic
indexes, abstracts, and other databases. You may choose
from several options to identify the databases that might
be useful to you on our Databases and Indexes
Web page. For more information or assistance with questions
call or stop by the reference desk at 269-3353 or ask
a circulation desk supervisor or assistant to help you
locate a librarian.
