Constructed: began construction in 1873, continued until destroyed by tornado in 1882.

Cost: precise costs not available, however cost probably exceeded $20,300.

Initial Functions: Housed natural history museum, lecture and laboratory rooms for chemistry, astronomy and human physiology, literary society rooms, library, art classes, and a variety of other acitivities. In all, the building contained 11 recitation rooms.
